Dune riding at North Head. A boat service from Opononi wharf takes you to the giant sand dunes on the North side of the Harbour entrance. The modest fare includes a sand board. Then you can walk up the dune and ride down, crossing the narrow beach and splashing into the sea, as often as you want, or as long as your energy lasts.
